It’s a simple, brutal mistake: you plug a lamp built for 110V into a 480V system, andpop. It’s gone in a blink. The trick to getting the voltage right
Voltage isn’t just some number on a sticker. It’s what tells us how to wind the tungsten filament. If you’re running 575V, we can’t just use a standard coil. We have to adjust the length and the gauge of the wire to create enough resistance. Without that, the current just spikes and melts the whole thing. And look, we aren’t into “cheating” the system with bulky external transformers. Those things take up way too much space and waste energy. We just build the lamp to handle your native voltage from the start. It’s cleaner.
The trade-offs you should know about
We use high-purity quartz glass because it can take the heat of shortwave radiation without cracking. But here’s the catch:these things are incredibly sensitive. Seriously, don’t touch the glass. One single fingerprint can create a “hot spot” that shatters the lamp the moment you ramp up the heat. It’s a pain, but it’s the reality of the material. Plus, there’s a quirk with the high-voltage stuff (480V and up). The upside? You can have longer tubes without losing temperature. The downside? You run a higher risk of electrical arcing at the terminals. Just make sure your connectors are actually rated for that voltage, or you’ll be staring at a fried control panel.
Making it fit
Whether you’re running a curing oven or a PET blowing machine, the lamp has to fit your electrical setup perfectly. We offer a bunch of different lengths and connector types so you can just slide them in and get back to work.
